Rides...rides...rides

After getting the all day Trimper bands that allow you to ride all their rides from sun up to sunset, we hit the amusement ride area ready to conquer all that we could...even the adults! Then after a fun filled afternoon, we wanted to relax and have some dinner, but Mother Nature was not allowing any of that...the announcement came to evacuate Ocean City NOW...no rest for the weary. After packing up, we headed out in a caravan style and hit the road with thousands of others to get out of OC and back to our homes and prepare for Irene to hit in a day or 2!!! I need a vacation from this vacation and my grandsons have learned to expect always with their grandmother the "unexpected".

On the boards at OC before Hurricane Irene came aknockin'...

When my other son Stan got back to Ocean City with his family late Thursday, we all headed out on the boards on Friday to have a fun day with the kids William and Wyatt. Here they are on the boardwalk making their way to Trimpers and all the fun rides. Notice no signs yet of impending doom...Hurricane Irene on her way up the East coast...or the fact that an earthquake happened 2 days before...can I pick the right time and place for a vacation...I should have been a travel advisor!!! NO!!!

Family at Ocean City's racetrack...

Sunday evening the family headed out to Ocean City's racetrack Ocean Downs for some fun and to watch some harness racing. My grandsons wanted to see the horses and watch them race. They would pick the ones they wanted to win by the color the horse wore. My son John won one race, but the rest were not as successful.

Kite flying on the beach in Ocean City

Yesterday in the late afternoon we decided we would go and fly William's dinosaur kite on the beach. This video shows how our attempts to fly it went.

At Ocean City with my Grandsons and Family

Okay, so you would think I could take on one grandson at a time...after all I am the mother of twins...well William put me to the test today. Bright and early we hit the beach and we all tried hard to get William to be one with the ocean...but William would have nothing with that! He would rather chase Grandma on the sand...oh my aching legs! Here is his Dad trying oh so hard to get him comfortable with the ocean...

Then off to Layton's we went for breakfast and where we played a game of "I Spy" and then to Dinosaur Land and Undersea World to play putt-putt golf!!!  I got 2 holes in one, but still came in 2nd to my son!!!

Then off to games at Marty's Playland and rides at Trimpers. And then sleep for the parents and my grandson and blogging for me!!! No rest for the weary and my aching bones...

Meet the Family...

I am the mother of twin boys now grown up. My twin sons are John and Stan. John is married to Maggie and their son is William. William was my first grandchild. Stan is married to Grace and their son is Wyatt. Wyatt was my second grandchild. William is four and Wyatt is two. The both of them have so enriched my life!
